Dance All Night Update 1
Submitted by Dance All Night News on July 18, 2009 - 2:19pm
First let us say, welcome to Dance All Night Northwest! Dance All Night is finally ready for its launch into the world wide web. Dance All Night is based on the electronic music scene in the Northwest, which includes Washington, Oregon, and all the surrounding areas. The main goal of Dance All Night is to renew the the popularity of electronic music in the adult scene.
For starters, we strongly believe that most genres can exist in a club environment if there is a big enough crowd drawn to them. We commonly heard complaints that there aren't any good "techno" clubs with the kind of music you usually only hear at all ages events. Enter Dance All Night. By drawing attention to events for the older crowd, we hope to build a following for those events to improve the turnout and popularity of electronic music club nights or events, and while we do support all events of every kind, and will list events for all ages, our main goal is to draw focus to 18+/21+ events. We hope that by doing this there will be more events like these in the future, and by bringing them to the forefront on Dance All Night, people interested in these types of events will have the ability to find them easily, and raising their popularity will be that much easier.
But there is a lot more to Dance All Night than just event listings. We have many other areas that address all aspects of the electronic music scene. We are currently a little short on content, but that will soon change with the addition of users and user added content. Dance All Night isn't just about bringing all the resources together, its about the community bringing information together, supplemented by articles submitted by Dance All Night News.
But before we can get the ball rolling, we need users to submit content! Here's how it works:
Any registered user can submit news articles. After you log in, just go to the News page and look for the little paragraph on the right that says Submit News. Read the directions carefully, and submit your article. It doesn't have to be about anything in particular, and it can cover anything you think is worth talking about. Then, the news article will be reviewed by one of the Dance All Night editors, and any minor changes that it needs will be made before it is published. This system allows the the community to bring information together in a structured way, in one easy to find place.
All news articles can be commented on by registered users as well, so feel free to voice your opinions of other news articles. You can easily search through the articles to find something in particular, and if you don't find it, create the article yourself. We accept articles from all corners, so don't be afraid to bring the facts to the table. The only way for a community based information port to work is if the community brings the information!
I'm sure you're saying to yourself at this point, "But I don't have any information..." Well there's a lot more areas to check out. We have local and international artist interviews, as well as reviews from events, to music, to venues, to whatever our self proclaimed experts feel like reviewing. We also have a section listing all the venues submitted to Dance All Night by the community. In the What's Happening section, you'll find all the current upcoming events that are being posted to Dance All Night by promoters. Want to see what's coming up in the next month? Just click on on the mini calendar's month name or particular day, and you'll be taken to the complete calendar of events.
Another part of the community content are the event photo sets. Any registered user can upload a photo set from an event. Did you have your picture taken? Did you take a bunch of pictures? Head on over to the Eventful Photos section to see or upload photos from certain events.
Still have questions? Comments? Need to get something off your chest? The Dance All Night forums are here to help. All the themed topics cover what we feel embodies the electronic dance community the most. However, there are two different sections where you can talk about anything and everything you want. It just depends on how deep you want to go. If that doesn't fit your needs quite right, you can try the live chat. Anyone can use it, even users who aren't registered on the site. This is the best place to go if you want to know what Dance All Night is about without wasting those 30 seconds registering.
Feel free to ask questions wherever you go. The FAQ depends on users asking questions frequently, so don't be afraid to contribute. There's no such thing as a dumb question, only dumb people. No really, please ask. Someone else probably has the same exact question, so in the end. you'll be helping someone else. After all, this is a community effort.
This concludes the debriefing. Again, welcome to Dance All Night Northwest!
