Protoculture

Only a few South African producers enjoy the success that DJ and Producer Nate Raubenheimer, better known to most as Protoculture, has had over the last 8 years. Sucked into the art of music production at a young age, he made the leap to pursue a music career professionally after completing his studies in Audio Engineering at age 20, immediately taking the international psy trance scene by storm with his first artist album, “Refractions” and trademark melodic and uplifting sound.
A slew of international performances followed, seeing Nate travel to all four corners of the globe. From London to Tokyo, Sao Paulo to Moscow, Nate has rocked dancefloors everywhere, most notably at festivals such as Glastonbury and Glade in the UK, Universo Parallello on the beaches of Bahia, Brazil, and also in clubs and super clubs alike, such as Ageha in Tokyo. Nate has also played alongside a diverse range of international heavyweights such as Paul van Dyk, Sasha, John 00 Flemming,
Orbital, Future Sound of London, Juno Reactor, and Sander van Doorn to name but a few.
The last year has seen a new direction for Protoculture, with collaborations with Max Graham, releases under Armada Records, and support from Dj’s such as Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz, Christopher Laurence and John 00 Flemming. Nate is striving to work outside the borders of regular genres, whilst maintaining the signature uplifting style. He received a nomination for a SAMA (South African Music Award) for his remix work on Goldfish’s smash hit, “Cruising through” on Pacha Recordings, and has also just released his third studio album “Love Technology”.
2nd Headliner:
DJ KonfliKt

KonfliKt is a 21-year old who grew up around the commercial music scene for most of his childhood years, until he starting to listening to house music when he was 17. From there forward, his passion for music has expanded greatly. He has expanded his horizons to genres such as indie rock, French house, disco, commercial top40, old school classics, hip-hop, nu-disco, and funk.
KonfliKt got into his first club as a DJ at 18, and has kept going since then. He has about two and a half years experience under his belt. In that time he has played at three festivals, including two consecutive appearances at Atlantic Canada’s largest music and awareness festival: Evolve. Kon has also spun alongside or opened for names such as DJ Cosmo, Classified, DJ IV, Wristpect, and Eh! Team DJs D.R. One, Grandtheft, Pump, Illo, and Drastik. He also closed out NYE 2009 at the Delta Prince Edward with D.R. One from Team Canada in front of a crowd of 1500+, and NYE 2010 at The Delta with The Stylusts.
KonfliKt currently has a combination of five weekly and monthly residencies. He is a frequent resident at both the University of Prince Edward Island (The Wave) as well as Globe Victoria Row. A regular at DJ Bones’ ((Indie Pop Night)) events in Charlottetown (where he currently lives), he has also ventured to Fredericton and Moncton as a guest ((IPN)) DJ. He is currently a part of an 8-man lineup at Nightcap Neon in Charlottetown, and also co-runs a weekly Thursday multi-genre show with DMayne Event at Baba’s Lounge. KonfliKt continues to rock crowds from 200 to 1000+ people every week
